Minute Mystery: The Dessert Dilemma

Bite-sized brain teaser to solve in a minute or less.

The Dessert Dilemma

At a local bakery, three desserts are prepared: a cake, a pie, and a cookie. Each dessert features one secret ingredient chosen from: chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry.

Using the clues below, determine which ingredient is in each dessert.

  1. The cake does not contain vanilla.
  2. The cookie’s ingredient comes alphabetically before the cake’s ingredient.

Solution

From Clue 1: The cake contains either chocolate or strawberry

From Clue 2: Since the cake can only contain either chocolate or strawberry (from Clue 1), it has to be strawberry since alphabetically it comes after chocolate. Which means, the cookie contains chocolate and, by elimination, the pie contains vanilla.

The cake contains strawberry

The pie contains vanilla

The cookie contains chocolate
