The Magical Potions
Three wizards—Alden, Beatrix, and Cedric—are brewing magical potions. Each wizard brews a specific number of potions daily.
- Together, they brew 96 potions in one day.
- Alden brews twice as many potions as Beatrix.
- Cedric brews 8 more potions than Beatrix.
How many potions does each wizard brew in a day?
Solution
Let's assume Alden brews a number of potions, Beatrix brews b number of potions, and Cedric brews c number of potions.
From Clue 1: a + b + c = 96
From Clue 2: a = 2b
From Clue 3: c = b + 8
From total potions brewed
Solve for a and c:
a = 44
b = 22
c = 30 In a day, Alden brews 44 potions, Beatrix brews 22 potions, and Cedric brews 30 potions. |
