Minute Mystery: The Six Glasses

Bite-sized brain teaser to solve in a minute or less.

The Six Glasses

Category: Logic, Deduction

You have six glasses in a row. The first three each contain water, the last three are empty. By moving only one glass, can you arrange them so that they alternate full–empty–full–empty–full–empty?

Solution

  • Lift the second glass (which is full) and pour its water into the fifth glass (which is empty).
  • Then put the now‑empty second glass back.
  • You’ve got: full (1), empty (2), full (3), empty (4), full (5), empty (6).
