Within the confines of a men's prison cell, six criminals coexisted. In a shocking turn of events, Dan Danger (45) was found murdered in the dead of night, smothered by his own pillow. Despite signs of a struggle, the assailant's strength surpassed the victim's. The cell was secured from the outside, and all five remaining cellmates insist they were fast asleep during the incident. In this three-part mystery, can you uncover the identity of the killer?

The victim, having commenced his sentence just two days prior to the tragic event, carried a journal titled "Opposites Attract" to document his thoughts. The diary contained only a single entry, composed in a coded language, possibly to safeguard its contents from fellow inmates.

Solution

IT’S STRANGE THAT I AM IN THE SAME CELL WITH A MAN I WORKED WITH AS A BOUNCER TWENTY YEARS AGO. IT’S OBVIOUS HE STILL RESENTS ME FOR RATTING HIM OUT TO THE BOSS FOR STEALING. I’LL NEED TO SLEEP WITH ONE EYE OPEN.

Shortlisted Suspects

The victim had a history of animosity with one of his cellmates - someone he worked with twenty years ago. This eliminates three of the cellmates from the suspects' list as they were children back then. Therefore, the only suspects could have been:

- Mick Menace (46)

- Rog Risker (44)
