Solve mildly challenging puzzles to unlock the mystery.

At the annual county fair, a car sales agent is on the verge of showcasing a used car to a potential buyer when he discovers that the car's stereo has vanished. This specific car had been stationed in Lot B throughout the day. Visitors, upon check-in, were directed to Lot A for new vehicles or Lot B for used ones. Until a sales agent was assigned to them, visitors were free to explore the vehicles independently. Dive into the clues provided and piece together the information to deduce which of the fairgoers might be responsible for the stereo theft.

Date: September 6, 1985

Witness name: Fiona Funfair

As one of the coordinators overseeing the horse and cattle show at the fair, I happened to be present at the theater adjacent to the used-car lot on the day in question. During a smoke break by the dividers separating the car lot and our theater, I heard a noise behind me. Turning around, I observed a man squeezing through the dividers and crossing over to our side. Unaware of my presence, he collided with me, his tote bag striking my knee and revealing something hard within. His bright green cap tumbled to the ground. Swiftly, he apologized, retrieved his cap, and jogged away towards the theater's exit.

Solution

The witness described a male wearing a bright green cap. The check-in notes show one of the visitors was wearing a green cap. That visitor also left without seeing a sales agent.

Harold Horsepower stole the stereo.
